HDSLR 101: Videography for DSLR beginners



This course is targeted at anyone who is interested in the capabilities of video enabled DSLR cameras but who do not have much experince in photography or videography.


Who Should Attend

  • Anyone with no former experience in video or photography

  • Individuals who want to have a basic introduction/understanding to HDSLR filmmaking & the basics of videography

  • Working professionals who need to implement the use of HDSLR in related working environments (events, documentation)


Equipment & Requirements

Particpants are welcome to bring their own DSLR cameras. If they do not have their own video  capable DSLR cameras,we can provide them.

Recommended DSLR models for this class include the Canon 5D mk III,5D Mk II,7D,60D,600D

A variety of lenses wil also be available for participants to try.


Please note that a significantpart of this workshop involves outdoor shooting. Location will be at various areas within walking distance of AV8 Media.

As such participants should dress comfortably and be prepared to carry their own equipment.They should also be prepared for rainy weather (raincoat/umbrella etc)

About the Instructor


Lim Teck Siang has been active in the local film industry for several years, taking on a multitude of roles in pursuit of his passion for film. His early professional experience includes working on feature films such as Kelvin Tong’s 'Kidnapper', Royston Tan’s ‘Getai’ double-bill '881' and '12 Lotus', on top of numerous commercials, short films, and print advertisements.

At the 23rd Singapore International Film Festival in 2010, his camerawork for ‘Mu Dan' was awarded Best Cinematography (Short Film Category) at the Silver Screen Awards. 'Mu Dan' also garnered Best Performance. 'Promises In December', which won the Best Film and Best Director awards, was also lensed by Teck Siang.

He has worked with with a variety of formats including film,and the RED One and is an early adopter of the HDSLR,having shot documentaries, short films, corporate work and commercials on the Canon 5D/7D.His showreel can be seen at http://framesinmotion.wordpress.com/showreel-2009/
